The Glenn Miller Orchestra
“A band ought to have a sound all of its own. It ought to have a personality.” – Glenn Miller
Tonight’s (1/24/14) performance at the First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs, FL, was delightful. The band’s sound is great, the choices of music and tempos excellent, and vocals marvelous. It helps, of course, that the acoustics in the church are superb, but I bet the GMB sound is wonderful in all venues. Julie Rich’s amazing voice was like sweet Southern syrup, both rich (appropriate, that) and pure. I enjoyed the harmonies of the Moonlight Serenaders as well as all the featured solo musicians. Wonderful program! January 25, 2014Pat Smith
The performance at the Cole in Hamlet, NC this week was great. The numbers were done exactly as the original Glenn Miller band did them. You did the best job with the Miller sound and the reed section that any have done since the original. I saw this orchestra under direction of Larry O’Brien 4 or 5 times and it was great, but Hilscher is better. Keep the band playing the way it is now. Looking forward to the next time in NC! Attended the concert at Cary Arts Center in Cary, NC last night along with my 14 year old grandson, Scotty, who is also a dedicated GMO fan. Their performance was high energy, and super professional. The repertoire was perfect and the solo’s of Nick, Julie and the Moonlight Serenaders was just icing on a delicious musical cake! What a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours on a Friday evening. Brought back memories of when I was a big band drummer in the late ’50′s and early ’60′s. If the GMO is coming to a city near you….DON’T MISS IT! January 18, 2014Ed Heffington, Sr.
I attended the performance at the Spruce Creek Country Club on Jan. 11, 2014. Throughly professional and wonderfully enjoyable. Great music by musicians who appeared to enjoy performing and did so flawlessly. Don’t miss the chance see this orchester. January 12, 2014Ron Gikes
