The Glenn Miller Birthplace Festival is a special event for us every year. We love connecting with fellow musicians/music-enthusiasts to celebrate Glenn and the legacy of his music. The dance is always a fun way to close out the weekend and last night was par for the course! Thanks again to the GM Birthplace Society, the volunteers and our special guest performers. The Miller sound lives forever!

On this day, we remember the 80th anniversary of “D-Day”. The Allies landed over 150,000 troops in Normandy on June 6, 1944 in an effort to liberate north-west Europe from Nazi occupation. We honor and remember them today. We are grateful for our veterans.

The Hotel Pennsylvania’s ‘Cafe Rouge’ was a regular stop for many big bands of the day, including the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

Inspired by the hotel’s telephone number, the band recorded the instrumental hit “Pennsylvania 6-5000” on April 28, 1940 at the RCA Victor Studios in New York City and had a 12-week top chart run. The song also served as an advertisement for the band’s live performances, as a call could be put through to the Hotel Pennsylvania’s venue to make a reservation.
